I have posted numerous times about many clubs around the greater Los Angeles area so you can trust my judgment - one night does not make a club. This club is FAR more often than not a ghost town, and with the new owners it is only going to get worse, especially if they are already likely creating accounts shilling their own club on here. If you want to have a beer or two and don't care about whether or not the club is dead, or if you are just coming in here to see your favorite girl, then the club is decent. However, if you are trying to find a place that is "off the hook" or has a "Vegas atmosphere" as I have seen quoted in previous posts, then this is definitely not the place... The fact that they've been through so many owners is a red flag. But I could care less how much money they're making. I'm only trying to have a good time. Everybody talks about how great pleasures was. I'm not sure if people remember the last six months was hit and miss. I can recall several nights that looked like it does in cocoon but without the classy setting. I'm not trying to crown this place club of the decade. I'm simply saying that for my money I love the club. Honestly, where else (within 20-30 miles) can you find a full bar and topless girls? Rumor has it that Friday was paked too. Was anyone there? It wouldn't hurt if they spent a little money on advertising. You always have the option of heading next door to the stretchmark factory or you can head down to City of Industry for a $20 cover with all the coca cola your heart desires. Friday night was the best night I've seen outside of Vegas in a long time, I encourage you to ask anyone who was there. As for me being and investor, I'm far to smart to invest any money in to an adult establishment. I would hate to have to depend upon people like yourself that are more concerned with whether or not they can wear shorts in the club. My money comes from a higher end client. Just out of curiousity. Which club us your favorite? Because I'm sure that club can be put under a microscope aswell. Bottom line is you should feel free to go out and enjoy yourself. Stop trying to have a bad time or just stay home. It seems to have turned into a high school popularity contest. I like some of you am very sorry to see the former ownership and manager gone. They made it quite comfortable for the customers. However things have changed and it’s time to move on. I have been to Cocoon 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The first 2 visits were not even worth writing about. There were very few customers and even fewer girls. Average drinks and not a lot going on. But my visit yesterday (Friday) was a different story. There were no fewer then 60 people in the club. So what if the bartender was personally responsible for about 20. The dancers weren’t 5 star quality across the board but there was definitely some talent in the building. Cocoon faithful would have recognized Mandy and Michigan. These ladies were as entertaining as ever. In addition to that a star was born. A gorgeous blonde Latina by the name of Arianna completely stole the show. During one of her stage shows she had the entire tip rail filled. For the first time I noticed that there was no one at the bar and all the guys playing pool completely stopped to take notice. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better some guy decided to make it rain!! Now I’m not talking about the kind of rain that comes from $20 (That’s not rain that’s drizzle fellas). This guy had to throw at least $200…The crowd went wild including the 10-15 female customers. Speaking of those female customers I personally loved seeing all of them go back to get laps at the same time. My only regret of the night was not getting a dance from Arianna. There was a waiting list for her by the end of the night. I’ll be sure to visit again soon. As for The show at Papa Joe’s, I haven’t been there yet. I’ve heard mixed reviews from the people that I actually trust. I’m sure they’ll do very well because they have good people there. But don’t sleep on the nicest club this side of Vegas. Customers make the club. Get your ass off the couch and go to Cocoon. Bring some money and watch how quickly this club turns into your favorite spot! I used to go because I knew a lot of the people from Pleasures, but the new owners came in and got rid of most of them because they wanted to cut costs because the place is losing so much money. The review from Santo is pretty accurate as well - there were maybe one or two times about a month ago where this place was actually busy, but the other 10 times or so I went there there were usually only about 6-7 girls maximum and maybe 5-6 guys, which I didn't really care about because most of the time it was the people that I wanted to hang out with anyway, but the club is and always was pretty dead. The first time I went to Papa Joe's after they got their license I saw more people there than I ever did at Cocoons. Also, just for the record, I don't work for that club or have any affiliation with it whatsoever. Just know that it provides a much better atmosphere and has owners who actually know what they are doing. Oh, and as for the lap dances, they do have dances at Papa Joe's, just as they used to at Pleasures. I haven't gotten one so not sure if they are worth it, but they are definitely offered. The club, however, is bikini only, so if you are looking for a topless place like Cocoon's then you are likely to be disappointed. However, if you used to enjoy the atmosphere of Pleasures, then this is definitely the place to be, not Cocoons. I'm new to Pasadena and have been going to clubs in the Bay Area for over 10 years, just moved down here and have been out checking out the local clubs... here's my take: 1) Frank and Dean: This place was a joke! It was a total fake gentleman's club, it's like a restaurant or something. There were no topless girls, only waitresses, no stage, no nothing. It was lame, I only went there because the cabbie said "Pleasures" closed. Never been there, but if it was anything like Frank and Dean's I'm glad I've never been there. 2)Cocoon: After F and D, I was scared to try anything else in Pasadena, but I took a chance this past Saturday, and after reading the other reviews and I must say, I was truely impressed by Cocoon. I saw a Spearmint Rhino sign outside so I guess it was bought over. I don't care who the owner's are, this place was awesome and spacious, a true "gentleman's club" not like some other hole in the wall places I've been to. A hot leggy dancer gave me a tour of the upstairs private VIP room, plus I got to spend some alone lap dance time up there with her +++++ Ok, I'm going on and on, but Cocoon is truly a Vegas style club. Without the Vegas prices. Exactly what I was looking for, plus it's nearby. I'm definitely going back for the Cinco De Mayo party this week. If you want to hang with any of these people, go to The Show at Papa Joe's (formerly Frank and Dean's). This club got their license to do bikini dances and it has been really busy the last couple times I have been there. I got in around 5:30 PM, and there were maybe 4-5 girls and 4-5 other PLs in the place. Not too bad for a new club, I thought. I had not been here since before the Spearmint Rhino days, when the club was still called Paris, but the inside was vastly improved. The decor was really upscale and looked even a little bit nicer than both SRI and SRR, from what I remember. Cover was $5, but when I mentioned seeing the ad that says "no cover until 9 PM", they let me through. Dances are fully clothed, there is a public area for $20 individual dances, a separate (but not private) are for $100 half hours, and an upstairs for private dances, but I don't remember the cost to go upstairs. I was on my way to somewhere else, so I didn't get any dances this day, but the place looked good, and I will be back. We do not have a cover before 9pm. -We have a downstairs VIP Room for 100 to 150 dollars a night (prices vary on the night) for every 30 minutes. -We also have a new exclusive VIP Room upstairs for 175 dollars for 30 minutes which includes two complimentary drinks. Its newly furnished and worth checking out. -We have a Taco Man and Pizza Man throughout the week for those of you who get hungry. The food is amazing. I went in last night around 10 and the place was packed - at least twice as many people as I had ever seen in here before. There were also a lot of hot new girls that I had never seen before working as well, including one who said it was her second day dancing who was super hot. I don't know what caused the sudden surge of people in here, but I am hoping they keep it up!
