They underwent remodeling, got rid of the aquariums, pool table and they soul. This place used to be lively, fun and energized. I spent many nights, drinking throwing cash on stage and enjoying laps in the back room. The reason why this place was so awesome, were the combination of great strippers and a crowd full of live and energy. I must say that this was a welcomed difference from the graveyard atmosphere, stanched with utter desperation and disillusionment often found at the cooperate clubs a la SR. Now CC has joined that group of strip clubs. The girls are under a short leash of a controlling manager who has no report with his employees, charges the girl and customers as much as possible and has successfully run this Hollywood landmark of Pulp Fiction times into the ground. If you must go there, check out Leah, a hot black and skinny dancer. Apparently this place is a bikini bar now but they still charge $25 for lap dances. You would think in a bikini bar in Hollywood the girls would all be 10s, but that is far from the truth. Sadly the hottest girl there was the waitress/hostess and she was wearing a suit. The actual dancers ranged from 2-5 in the looks category. I can't think of a reason to come here again. It is managed by a total jerk, and even when the club is completely empty they still charge a $10 cover-and I mean EMPTY. Like 1 dancer, a manager, NO bartender and NO music. And the girl working the register taking the cover charge was the snottiest little peice of trash I have ever encountered. She acted like she thought she was royalty, and looked like a little anorexic lizard. BUT MOST IMPORTANT-They treat people like garbage. Yes, regular people who may just want to look at the place to have a private party. People who want to spend money in the place and just have a good time. They treat normal customers, or would be customers, so bad that a group of my friends decided to leave before they even actually went in the club because the little reptile working the door was so grossly condescending. I guess she's mad because she's too flat chested to be a dancer. I don't know how far they think they're going to get by letting their staff treat people poorly-but I know that me and my friends will never set foot in the place again. Most of the girls are really beautiful and from what I saw they pack some of the most talented stage and pole performers in the city. The atmosphere and personality of the club is better than ever, and once word gets around this place could get back to it's most famous/infamous point. It is getting off to a slow start because the owners are doing a piss poor job of advertising the place. But the girls are hot, friendly and are a lot more like real people than the nude clubs. The alcohol selection is also better than before. They have a full menu of special shots and drinks like the Stripper on Acid, which I made the mistake of drinking more than 2 of. The outside is being redone by the end of the year which is when they are expecting to really start packing in the people. I suggest giving it a try, maybe bring some friends to liven up the experience. The private dances are definately more intimate now, too. SCs are generally very girl friendly. The most intense action I've seen onstage is unfortunately at SRI, a club I love to hate. I've seen incredible stuff at Hawaii Theatre - but those were spontaneous moments that broke out and the manager didn't interfere - had to have broken a bunch of laws. DVNH used to promote that they were doing some real girl girl action on weekend nights, but I don't know if that's happening anymore. Lots of couples in DVNH on weekend nights though. As far as getting your girl some good lap dances, figure just about anywhere. Girls generally do better than guys in the mileage department. The only place I know in TJ that is consistently putting on girl girl shows with any intensity is Hong Kong Club. Two to three times daily they put two girls on stage, bathe them in shaving cream (along with most of the rail birds), and the chicas go to town on each other. The heat varies with the sexual orientation of the chicas. They once used the same chicas over and over who were really into it and it was ALL happening. Now, most of the chicas take turns doing this show and often they are just faking it - going through the motions. Other times it is fucken nuts (with dudes often invited or coerced into the action onstage). In private it is not very easy to get chicas to do sessions with your girlfriend or threesomes. You have to be in the loop to know which chicas are willing to be open about being Lesbian/Bi, and following through in a hotel room. Of course there are many bi-sexual chicas but few of them will be open about it...Mexico with its open toleration for commercial sex is still way LESS sexually sophisticated than the U.S. - at least than SoCal. In Tijuana, the U.S. customers teach the Mexican hookers about sex - very weird, and not what outsiders would think. Forget about any of the smaller more authentic Mexican bars with the young fresh off the bus cutie pies. Limit your search to Adelita, Chicago, Hong Kong and the upscale strip clubs. The more sophisticated the surrounding and the talent, the better chance you'll have. Most 2 girl threesomes that get offered around to guys in the clubs are really just the chicas taking turns with the guy or doing fake lesbo maneuvers with each other. You can ask club waiters and managers for assistance - don't be afraid to be very assertive and specific about what you're looking for, so they won't bring some clueless chica over who doesn't realize what she's in for. Tijuana strip clubs run the gamut from ultra-plush "gentlemen's clubs" to dingy caves that provide tableside BJ service (and more). There are also plenty of clubs that cut right down the middle between these extremes. Clubs are open almost 24 hours as long as there are customers, but understand that the throb comes late night. Prime time is 11PM through the wee hours to get the best selection of chicas and an exciting overall atmosphere. Daytime and earlier evening hours work fine for hardcore SCers and you'll get lots of attention, but you may be virtually alone in the club with the 2nd team. TJ irony is that prostitution is tolerated (NOT legal), but total nudity is illegal and harder to find on a stage then prostitution in a private booth. In Ensenada, total nudity is legal and standard in all the strip clubs. So in Tijuana at least, expect the stage work to be topless most of the time. There are girls who drop their thongs in stage presentation beyond just collecting tips, but it isn't the regular thing. Don't expect gyno shows. All clubs serve liquor but only the upscale clubs have full bars that go beyond beer, tequila, vodka and brandy. Beer is $3-4 with clubs sometimes running 2 for 1 specials. Both the plush and middle of the road clubs in TJ feature dancers who in prime time, generally far exceed the beauty quotient that you find in L.A. area clubs. The higher end clubs are cursed with as much silicon/saline as you find in L.A., but otherwise, the dancers are more beautiful by far. They tend to play the same games that SoCal strippers do with customers - they are just as flaky, drug addicted and unreliable, and they set their PL traps as expertly as the most canny L.A. dancers. The clubs have a scale for lap dance prices depending on how much nudity and privacy and supposedly extras that you want. You are supposed to understand that the higher price spread equals higher mileage, but that isn't necessarily true. If you meet the right chicas at the right time, have some game, speak some spanish, et al., you can have as much mileage as you can handle in the lowest price dances. If you don't you can get next to nothing more than standard high mileage in the highest price dances. Low mileage doesn't exist and medium mileage is rare. So it is a YMMV environment between the gradients of high to ultra. Whether you get laid or the chica decides she will spend an entire weekend camped with you in your hotel room for $100 or for nothing at all is a product of your own game. You may even be subject to an instant marriage proposal - that's an extra that you don't find in L.A. :-) (but that's more a topic for discussing TJ hooker and fichera bars which is a different subject). You can buy dancers' drinks for premium prices of $6-11. With the right girls, some extraordinary parties can break out right at the table. General price scale is $20 for a basic lap dance in a curtained booth. In the middle to low-end clubs, the hottest chicas will almost always accept a counteroffer of 2 dances for $20. Each club has it's own variety of more private accomodations for which they may officially charge $40-80 or more. However, you are in Mexico so EVERYTHING is negotiable - you are expected to negotiate. In most clubs that means you can also negotiate a hotel session outside the club, in which case you'll have to pay a negotiable "bar fine" ("salida" en espanol) to the club unless you take the dancer out before or after her shift. Songs are uncut in all but 1-2 clubs that I can think of that have the chutzpah to cut the music U.S. style. If you hit the booth to a 12 minute Doors classic, you'll be there until "the music's over". I've had 10-20 minutes of lapping in a standard 2 for $20 arrangement. Highest end clubs: Amnesia, Lord Black, Bolero, Penthouse. Middle range: Madona's and Caesar's (both aspire to the higher end but fall short IMO), Peanuts & Beer (aspires to sleaze but can't help featuring total babes on weekend nights), Beverly Hills Club, Caribean, PussyCats and on and on and on. These clubs are found up and down Avenida Revolucion. Hong Kong is an interesting "hybrid" between a hooker bar and a strip-club right in the middle of the red light district of the zona norte. Low range: You don't want to know. Gender confusion clubs: Bambi, Sans Souci and a couple of others sucker gringos in to play with gorgeous "women"....who just happen to have penises or are in various stages of gender reassignment. Beware (that is if you're not bi-curious)...and also beware that MOST of the gender confused have a lousy habit of picking pockets. Just plain stay away if you're not a veteran of the Mexico scene. Zona Norte hooker bars: They all have intermittent strip shows featuring ultra-hot dancers, but it is a different culture - a different topic. In the middle to low end strip clubs there is sadly an accepted level of criminality among the barkers who line the streets trying to bring you to the clubs. They will take your first drink order after you are seated (also offer to get you "anything you want"). If possible, give them the smallest denomination bills you can. If you must pay with a $20, announce that you are doing so as you give them the money. The bill switch is more than common, it is almost a given if they think you're an inexperienced tourist. If you catch on to the scam, they NEVER persist in the thievery. You will ALWAYS get your correct change back if you call them on the scam without making a scene. There is actually less and less of this kind of border town scammitry presently going on in TJ clubs than in years past as they aspire to become ever more upscale imitations of U.S. corporate clubs...it is the strip club version of the evolution that happened in Vegas from mob to corporate ownership. However, you still have to be on your guard. Barker scams will never happen in upscale clubs. Likewise, the regular drink servers in the middle to low-end clubs will rarely if ever attempt a scam. It is only the street barker scum - virtually all of whom are criminal deportees who happen to speak english so they are valuable to club owners in pulling gringo tourists into the clubs. Finally, as I suggested in my earlier post, all sorts of things happen at the clubs - particularly weekend nights during prime time. Lots of posses of college age girls and other young women cruising the Revolucion discos with or without guys come into these clubs. Intoxication is the guide and they get further intoxicated with the beauty, curves of these Mexican dancers. Lots of amateur action on stage. Guys also get lured or pulled on to the stage and find themselves naked and participating in quasi-live sex shows. Ultimate lines are rarely crossed, but it definitely can be a chicos and chicas gone wild scene to a degree unknown in L.A. I live walking distance from Crazy Girls and Seventh Veil but I'm afraid to go in unless I start hearing some drastically better reviews. Occasionally I venture out to the suburbs for strippers, but this is Hollywood and you don't need to pay to be with hot women. Especially if you are a hot chick yourself. In Hollywood the alternative, fetish, gothic and industrial scenes (regular dance clubs) are vibrant (not what they used to be but still...) and have dozens and dozens of alternative looking, aggressivly bi-women who will be all over you. And of course a bunch of (mostly) cool guys checking you out too. And some kick ass music. Try Cheetah's on at the east end of Hollywood Blvd. The customers are 50% female on many nights. And the female audience can't be characterized...they come from all walks of life from lipstick lesbians, to straight girls hanging with male friends to bi-curious and so on. The dancers fit the crowd...no Barbie or Pam Anderson portrayals...it is Hollywood hip - not wannabe Hollywood. Jumbo's Clown Room, also on the eastern end of Hollywood Blvd. is another club that attracts a bohemian-hip mixed gender crowd. You will certainly feel very welcome at either Cheetah's or Jumbo's. Jumbo's is sort of a dump though compared to Cheetah's or Crazy Girls - grungy neighborhood bar ambience. Speaking of "grungy", this is where Courtney Love once squeaked out a living on the pole. Jumbo's is certainly a Hole. However, the enigma is that Hollywood clubs for reasons deeply buried, are in other ways the most conservative and regulated clubs in southern Cal. Part of that is because they are all topless bars with alcohol - they operate in fear and in great respect to the California booze regulators. On the other hand, the nude clubs along the perimeter of L.A. take more chances. They exist to enbalm desperately horny cavemen of every drop of cash and credit flowing through their wallets. More Barbies and Pams, but more ACTION with the liquor law enforcers not breathing down their assholes!!! Try roaming out to the Spearmint Rhino Clubs, especially downtown and in the City of Industry. You'll find the dancers very receptive to your ambitions. Demonstrate those verbally or via body language and you will be generously served...more so than they serve the boys (in the public areas that is). If you choose, you WILL be onstage, naked as you wanna be, participating in a live lesbian sex show. Same thing goes at Deja Vu North Hollywood and probably countless other NUDE clubs in the L.A. area. The critical mass of L.A. dancers do very much appreciate female admirers at the rail, and will invite you to write your own script that no male customer would ever be permitted to do. Now if you want to take it to the next level - go over the line (literally & figuratively), let me know and I'll escort you to a few upscale strip clubs in Tijuana that are nicer than any clubs in L.A. - girls are far more beautiful than L.A.'s finest, and you can just get plain unhinged!! The downside is there will be more fake boobage in the upscale clubs than either you or I apparently appreciate, and fagetabout off the beaten body part piercings or ink to the extreme. I'm from LA but currently live in SF, but will be moving back to LA in a couple months. I was here this weekend to look for apartments and popped in to this club on Saturday night. The club I go to regularly in SF is my type of place because the girls are pierced, tattooed, all ethnicities, and all bodily types. The girls also run the gamut from short to tall and from skinny to voluptous 1950s type bodies. The dancers at my SF strip club make a bi girl feel comfortable and not at all like she shouldn't be there unless she wants to giggle and act embarrassed (or worse, bitchy and competitive) while her boyfriend has all the fun. When you tip, you come up to the stage and they will take the money from your mouth, crotch, chest, etc. Sometimes they will even throw you on stage and get on top of you, kiss you, etc. I wasn't expecting the same sort of treatment at this place, but I was unprepared for the unfulfilling experience I had. Let me say that if any readers are into girls who aren't mainstream looking, you will not enjoy this strip club. All the girls are incredibly tall even without their heels. I like a medium height, curvy, Marilyn figured girl, or a short skinny girl like myself. I found neither. The Amazons all were either bone thin with huge boob implants or just plain bone thin. Hair was almost uniformly blonde or blonde-toned or highlighted, even the nonwhite girls, and all the hair trailed long down the back in the typically mainstream style. It was like being in a room of Britnee Spears and Jessica Simpleson clones, and I am not attracted to girls who look like this. Where were the Angelina Jolie-like girls? Where were the hot vampire types? Most of the white girls were very tan and all the girls seemed to be wearing pastel colors. It also seemed like the dancers there DID NOT LIKE girl customers. I can understand that not everyone is bisexual, but dancers should realize that some people are, and those girls who are will want to receive as friendly and as sexy a vibe as the guys do. One of my favorite dancers at the SF club is a lesbian, yet she's always very friendly to guy customers. When I went into the bathroom there were several dancers who GLARED at me when I smiled at them. It really pissed me off that I paid money to be treated like crap just because I happen to be a girl who likes girls--not just a girl who thinks her boyfriend will think she's wild'n'crazy if she goes to a strip club with him. Oh--and I am far from unattractive,as well as quite friendly, so I don't think that was the issue either Customer contact seemed to be at a minimum in terms of the customers near the stage who would tip. As for the girls not dancing who'd walk around, I was avoided, as was a very cute girl near me who kept saying to her boyfriend, "Why aren't any girls coming up to us? A dancer just sat on the lap of that Santa Claus-looking guy over there!" In any event, the whole night was an utter bummer. I wish I had read this guide before going out. Anyone knows a place where the girls are more vintage looking, tattooed, etc? More film noir than Baywatch?
