I wanted to check out first-hand the effect of the new outrageous vip prices. I went during the dayshift and there were at least a dozen dancers present. Customers were getting the $10 couch dances but I only saw one $150 vip take place during the 90 minutes I was there. A BIG mistake management! When you add a tip on top of $150 for a 12 minute dance it just doesn't make sense when there are less expensive alternatives. It was only about 3 years ago when the six song vip was $100! I won't be going back for quite a while when my money will last much longer elsewhere. Business Rule # 1: You don't raise prices in a recession. Flamingo's should have learned a lesson from Imperial Theatre. A couple of years ago ITA substantially raised their prices and it absolutely killed their business. Most customers and dancers left the club. ITA was eventually forced to lower their prices back to where they once were. In the meantime, the club nearly went out of business. If the price increase at Flamingo's is correct it will also kill their business. A six song VIP for $150? That's way too much. I know Sahara down the street has similar pricing but the place is empty of customers. Is that the example you want to follow? Other clubs like California Girls (Santa Ana) have lowered their prices. They have dances for $10 in a very private vip room. That sounds like a much better deal to me. Also, compare to some City of Industry clubs. Deja Vu offers a vip for $150 as well BUT it lasts for 30 minutes and is completely NUDE! It's not that far away from OC when you want to save money. Obviously, business is slow everywhere but many SC owners just don't get it. The owner of Flamingo's is probably saying to himself, "Man, I'm just not making as much money as I used to. So, I think I'll raise dance prices". What the dim-wit owner doesn't understand is customers will now buy less VIP's. Customers will also now go to other clubs that are a better value. This price increase will not result in more money to the club but LESS! Dancers will also make less money and eventually leave. And it's the good dancers who will leave first. The ill-will created by this price increase during a recession will take a long time to overcome. Meanwhile, it will only get slower and more depressing at Flamingo's. I feel sorry for the good dancers at Flamingo's that work their asses off. I hope for their sake this price increase will not stand.
