Tell the doorman that you saw their ad truck driving around to save some money on the entrance. Worth spending some extra money on the lap dances. Its not true that there is too much hustle. Girls are really cool, they come chill with you and they don't bug you about getting dances. They had a bunch of specials all night, great if you wanna save some money, makes it very affordable. This place has the same problems as the nearby Silver Reign - hot dancers, classy-looking club, .... but awful prices and too much hustle. As soon as you enter the club you'll be ravaged by some of the vultures. Girls expect to be tipped just for chatting! The dances are the highest price that I've seen in a club like this. They are about the same as 4Play, but at least there you can enjoy the show in peace. At this place you can't be left alone. Most girls are hot and don't have an attitude, but they're put in a tough spot by the management which forces them to hustle constantly. If you just want eye-candy and money is no object, this place will do. If not, there are better choices. I've been there a few times and each time I had a good time. But I allways have a good time around naked pretty girls. The problem with this place is the dances are way too expensive for what you get unless you "know" the girl. Fr me, its close, its clean, I can park for free around the block. I just say no to the buy a drink a lady spiel unless Im hitting it off wih the girl and then I'll splurge to help with the factor. The lap room is dark and if the girl likes you you can do what you want, also it has never really been busy when I was there. But the lack of PL can work for you if your know what to do. The girls also have to learn not to hide in the back, or smoke, or whatever even if there are only 4 guys in the club. The drink prices are a little high. At least be consistent with entrance includes drinks, or whatever. Again, I see why you say this club blows, but there is opportunity. Then again, COI is a sure thing, and given a choice, you just can't beat the price of DVCOI, or for a nicer place SRCOI. But I stil like my Jet Strip. I've visited this place 3 times so far over the past year when i'm down in Los Angeles for business and it has been crappy every single time. You would think after a year they would get their act together. I thought the third time would be the charm but i was sorely mistaken. The decor of the club is nice but other than that, there is nothing good to say about this club. The girls are average with a few good looking ones here and there. Most of the time I've been to the club it looks like a ghost town with no customers or dancers. I talked to one of the girls and she said it usually doesn't pick up until 11. Well I stayed well past 12 and the slow atmosphere did not seem to change. The city search review said this was the best place in LA? Those reviewers must have never gone to this club. There are more than a handful of gentlemen's club around this area that far supercede this one in particular. Drink prices: I don't mind paying $20 for an energy drink but when they hustle you for a drink and you buy them one expect to pay $40 for a bottle of water for the dancer. lame. I got vip dances each time I've been there and have not been impressed. SR or HT and a few other places have been much much better. The last time I went they did have some feature dancer there but the place wasn't happening at all. I don't know how this establishment stays in business. Cons: Location is awkward, the cross street is a Y-shaped one way lane. It's a very small club, it feels like a someone's living room. Forget about buying the girls drinks because she will choose a drink that cost $20 (a regular sized monster drink can). Overpriced dance prices, maybe because it's close to Beverly Hills. Poor fellas that live there are getting robbed. I've seen better looking girls at lunch during work. Dance Price: Nude $40 VIP $600 Pros : The only thing positive is i got in for free due to the free passes and i saved some money because as a frequent club goer i can compare prices and girls and this club is not worth the trip in my opinion. It is a beautiful club with comfortable chairs and elegant decor. The valet parks your vehicle in a covered parking lot hidden from the street. The stage was well lit and there were about 20 girls working. The club wasn't packed when I got there, but people started coming in later. I got a vip with Melody. I remember her from 4play, she used the name Athena then. She's a lot more feminine looking without all those muscles although she is still strong. Her dances were exceptional and I will be back for her. There is a wide variety of girls with several of them being lookers, depending on your taste. Two big pluses about this club, the bouncers don't stare at you during the dances and the vips go by time and not song. When I walked into Skin, Simone fit the bill in my case because she is a pretty convincing actress, as dancers go, and that's really pretty much what the game is all about, at least what I am looking for. I don't believe that Tom Cruise really lost his right hand in the Afrika Korps, or that Brad Pitt was really born an eighty year old man, or that Simone really liked me. The key is, all three performances are pretty entertaining while you are engaged by them, and that is what I pay for. Is indulgence in gentelmen's clubs pathetic and cynical? Perhaps so, that's why patrons are "PL's." But after thirty years of experience, I really don't see the patrons as any more pathetic than the purveyors. Cheers! I was the only guy in the place at 6:45. Lucky me. I was told that there were five dancers in the place, but I only saw three of them, and only one actually danced on stage. I opted for a girl next door type named Simone for some private dances, and I was not disappointed. In private dance, Simone comes off as a girl next door who has finally decided to lose control and "surrender" to her lust for you. It's a great, satisfying performance, and I highly recommend it. I realize YMMV between different customers, but I was very satisfied with my experience with Simone. She told me conversationally that things really heat up over the weekend at around 1 or 2 AM when "guys leave the bars and don't have any place to go." Given the parking situation and a bit of difficulty in actually finding the club, I can see how this could be true. Skin is a nice, clean, lushly decorated venue. Topless is $20 per dance, nude is $40, private VIP is $400 per half hour, which is a bit steep. Valet parking, which is the only option, is $5. Not much overlap between the girls I had seen the previous Saturday, but still of a pretty good quality. Club was fairly dead (though they did give out tickets this time showing I had purchased drinks at the door) -- small, inactive crowd, and very little action around the stage. Nearly every time someone went to the back for a dance, the DJ turned it into an impromptu 2-for-1. A few of the girls didn't even bother coming out on the floor when there were official 2-for-1s, apparently more content to stay off-floor and socialize with each other. I availed myself of dances with two different girls. Jordan was good, but Naomi (she says she works weekends until 2 AM) was outstanding, creative and permissive. She was excellent on the stage, as well. Mileage definitely varies from girl to girl here. Overall it was solid, but it seems like they have to start doing better, in terms of business. Used the free coupon to get in but still paid $12 for the drinks at the door -- of course I wasn't given any tickets or anything so I had to persuade the bartender that I'd already paid for the drinks; I see that was discussed before so it's a bit disappointing that they haven't ironed out this kink -- unless it's intentional. There were a good number of dancers there, even at the hour (business wasn't booming), most of a pretty high caliber in the looks department. Unlike a previous experience related by another reviewer, this time they did clear the stage during the 2-for-1 specials. The club is physically pretty nice, but there aren't any dividers in the couch/lapdance room so there isn't much privacy. Also the dances are priced only at $40 for a one-song dance and $400 for a half-an-hour; it would be nice to have some intermediate four-song rate or something similar. I took advantage of the 2-for-1 with Aubrey, and received a highly satisfactory dance, despite the privacy issues -- I see that others haven't had so much mileage so this may have been a situation where I lucked out with the dancer or maybe the club has relaxed restrictions on the dancers, I don't know. The songs were cut a bit short but Aubrey made the most of our time together. All the dancers I talked to had a really great attitude, especially Mary Jane. None were pushy, maybe a bit aggressive at times but in a respectful and flirty way. All-in-all, given the negative vibes from most of the reviews here, this was better than I had anticipated it being. High-caliber dancers can make up for faults in other areas, and if Skin can keep pulling in such dancers, they stand a chance. I'm giving the club a mediocre grade because of the issues with paying for drinks and the poor layout of the couch rooms, but giving a good attitude grade because of the actions of the dancers. The club is intimate with an elegant décor. There is a U-shaped stage with a granite floor and a large mirror at the rear of the stage. When I walked in a girl sat with me. She acknowledged that I had just arrived and came by to introduce herself. The waitress came over to ask if I would by the girl a drink and I declined. There was no pressure and no attitude afterwards. The girl stayed with me for another fourteen minutes. There were seven girls that went up on stage. The girls are 7-8’s on a 1 to 10 scale with an occasional 9. All of the girls were lean and in shape. I saw none of the tattoos, scars, etc that you find on some girls in the Valley clubs. The girls all seem like models and could easily be girlfriend material. They don’t look like strippers. Which, sometimes is part of the attraction. I had a coupon, so there was no cover, but there is a two drinks minimum of $12, with free valet parking. The girls were a welcome change. I usually go to Spearmint Rhino Van Nuys, Blue Zebra, Silver Reign, Rouge, Xposed, VIP – the Valley clubs, since my girlfriend lives in the Valley. Skin’s girls were more natural and even the ones with fake boobs, had tasteful augmentation jobs that did not detract from their overall appearance. I hope more people discover this club. It is a nice addition to the club scene and especially the WLA area. I did not get any dances, but they did run specials, and kept a girl on stage while the specials ran, unlike most clubs. If you like, good-looking girls, with clean bodies, this is the place. Most girls were Caucasian, one Asian, and one Latin. I read a lot about this Bella chick, but did not see her. Speaking of robs, Bella was not there. Makes sense, my 3rd visit here was much better than the last, but still not better than the first. Things that improved: The lighting was much better. the only negative thing is there are still dancer drinks and they are more expensive than the PL's. The only thing to watch is I guess the place has turned into a revolving door. I did not recognize a single dancer from the last time. Word has it that Bella went back to BE. Good riddance. The other thing Iwasn't too crazy about was the door guy. More specifically, I called at exactly 2AM and the guy didn't know what girls were dancing there, claimed there were 9 dacners there and claimed more were on the way. This was not the case in either. Cover is $15 plus tw drinks. I don't know if they are included in the cover or separate. I had to pay for both and they were $6 each. At least the glass was much larger which is good. I had the impression though that they are supposed to give you a litte ticket for drinks. The reason I think this is because the bar girl asked for one and said did they give you one or not? Makes sense, since the girls drinks are so expensive. that's the least they could do. Had a nice convo and dance with Melody. She has danced everywhere and is very toned. A little on the mature side but a great entertainer and great in the back. That place needs a place like her. Looks like now they have a discount pass in the LA Weekly and now feature Porno girls performing here on a somwhat regular basis. The community fought and is fighting to close the club. With that said I am sure the owners are worried that any High Mileage dance could result in them being fined or sanctioned and giving the community leverage getting shut down and putting the owners investment in jeopardy. I am sure the girls are told to keep it straight and narrow for the time. Until the club has been open for sometime and the area can get use to the club not closing my guess is that your dances will be low mileage. So in the mean time enjoy the view, enjoy the ladies but do not expect too much as way of the lap dances. Just too much $ to lose by being shut down. And furthermore, if you read all the posts on here since you guys opened, that majority have very little to say about how good the place is. Its mainly how weak it is. How many grand openings have you guys had? A few I assume, because everytime you guys do it, the turn out is probably not what you guys expect. Why is it that everywhere I go where I run into ex- Bare Elegance dancers, even a couple that work here at Skin, they all say that your just hype? They tell me that more times than not, they here comments from other customers that say you think a little too highly of yourself and are dissapointed with your dances? They can't all be lying or hating, can they? I got nothing against you lil mama, but this is a business, and the bottome line is quality of product. Thats what this board is here for...US! The customers, the consumers...you guys are welcome to read and post. We do this so maybe things can change and the experience can improve positively for the public. Its our hard earned money that ultimately keeps you gusy with a job and a business. The economy is going through tough times, so its our right to share our opinions with the rest out there so that they can formulate their own decisions on who and where to go spend that precious green. For the record, I don't think your dance was weak only because you didn't let me touch you. You weren't into, and even if you weren't into it, then at least try to fake it. Be passionate. Be into it. I doubt the older, healthier clubs are feeling much competitive pressure from them. The Bare/Skin nexus is a special case. The dancers are making a break from the worst deal in town to the best. When Stan starts taking his cut and the PLs have all sampled the place, found out how little they get for their 30 or 40 bucks, and decided to leave and not come back, so will the dancers. Increase song length and make more money? I dunno—maybe. But think about it: If your regular club increases song length, there’s no reason for you to spend more money there. You’ll either spend the same and get more time, or take the same time and spend less. If a club owner makes songs longer, he’d have to be hoping for guys from other clubs to switch to his club to get more dance per dollar. But does anybody hear about it when a club they don’t attend starts making songs longer? Guys don’t always notice song length changes at their own club. (There was an example of that several years ago at the Jet.) I asked to see the manager and a bouncer went in to relay the message. A few minutes later he came back and said they'd let me in "this time". I paid the 2 drink minimum ($12 for 2 coupons) and went in. The place is trying hard to be upscale. The decor was all brass lamps and wood panels, complete with a fake fireplace, a freaking chandelier, and a cold black stone stage. Skin hires girls with the classic model look. They definitely have their share of gorgeous hardbodies. The boobjobs are expensive. The upscale atmosphere must be working for them, because the 2 or 3 guys at the tip rail were making it rain. Skin must give their girls some kind of dance training, since every one danced the exact same technical precision. Same moves. Everything. Even when the girls would approach me for a private dance, they used the same little techniques, making it seem like they'd all been to the same seminar on how to do it. Skin is strictly a hands-off place. I saw a dancer approach a customer, presumably about a private dance. Then she turned around and wiggled her butt. He reached up to give her a pat, and she recoiled. Security came out of nowhere in seconds, and the guy got chewed out. I was taken aback by the severity of the response. Yeah, the customer was trying to cop a little feel, but he didn't seem at all threatening or out of control. To sum up, the club was nice and the girls were beautiful. However, I prefer a place with a warmer atmosphere and higher mileage. I prefer "girl next door" types. I felt like a guy at a magic show where I could see the strings; I could see how all the tricks were done. Bottom line: I wasn't turned on. They did NOT accept the Z-Bone card and charged me $20 for the cover - I saw other postings here stating that cover was $10. 2. Some of those girls have some serious attitude - one demanded a tip after a mediocre dance. Then when turned down was rude about the issue. 3. The vegas stlye "would you like to buy your dancer a drink" won't work, especially in a new club. Besides, why should I pay $10 for the same drink I buy for $6. I've always thought this practice was obnoxious. 4. Wow the dances are SHORT - I got cut off mid way in a dance and was not happy. I stopped the dance because I did not want to have issues and be charged for a second one. 5. There basically was NO action there. The place was dead. 6. How about something on the table to snack on - like at 4 Play - would a bowl of Chex Mix really break your bank? Comments to the owners (if they will ever see this): Try to give clients some value for their money. You are a new club and need to do something different then ALL other clubs out there - it's basic business 101. You have a brand new beautiful club but you need to build up a client base - offer us something to come in. Why should we go to you when we have a dozen better clubs to go to? Closer than Industry, is the Rouge in Van Nuys. High mileage can be had here with the right dancer. They also have special party rooms and those really big booths for groups in the main room. What if you did want to have a party at Skin? You can get a good grind here, but that will be the limit in any new club (my opinion and experience). You will likely have the club mostly to yourself, which is a plus. When I have been in, they have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome, which is another big plus. I think that you would need to make advance arrangements with the manager to be sure they had enough dancers in when you came. A good faith deposit would go a long way to giving the manager confidence that you are really coming. It could be a lot of fun, having a club mostly to yourselves. As the earlier poster mentioned, the lap booths are long benches with dividers. There are separate rooms for bikini, topless, and nude. There are no dividers in the bikini room. I strongly advise visiting any club you are considering to get a feel for the layout, staff, and general feel. You should also talk to the manager on duty about the logistics of bringing in a group. I think Bare Elegance and the Jet Strip are below that. HT is $15 at night. SRI is $20, I think, and $15 in the daytime. Silver Reign is $12 but has a two-drink minimum. BE and the Jet also have a minimum--though only one drink. $10 for drinks? That would be high for drinks the PL buys for himself -- it's $5 at Silver Reign and HT and around $6 at the Jet and BE.
