What is the deal with Poking?

I seriously don't get the whole poking concept.  Its one thing if you do it once to get someone's attention or to let someone know you sent a message or something like that, but I've seen some people exchanging 3 or 4 pokes a day.

Is it really the childish bit of "poking" a dancer that is the appeal?  Or is there something I'm missing here?

[LouASS]-->You have seen people exchanging 3 or 4 pokes a day?  Didn't you just registered your handle today?

I agree with you though about the poking.  Maybe zbone should just get rid of it.

I've lurked under another handle for a while.   I agree that zbone should just drop the poking thing.  It really serves no purchase and the exchanges push other posts (like RTCs) down the main page.

[LouASS]-->I think most would agree with you on regards to Poking.

Maybe you should post something on "Support" to file a complaint or send zbone a private message. This is getting to be way too much like Facebook.

Its not worth it to me. I just wanted to put the issue out there, but since people do seem to enjoy it, I'd hate to be the one who got it taken away.

I do agree that this has become way to Facebook-ish. I made the point in the post under Benn's Rants that since the reboot, with the active dancer participation and the expansion of the site, it has become strictly a social site for a handful of people who post regularly. The information flow has become limited because I think people are concerned with offending the dancers.

The poking is a facebook feature. It probably added to Zuckerberg becoming a billionaire.

I have never used it on FB, and only a few times on Z.

Yeah, I know, but it is unwieldy here because it clogs up the main page.

Ironically, I didn't even notice the feature on FB until I saw it here.

It shouldnt be in the way of anything.  If the clubs post their role calls where they are supposed to then all we have to do is go to the clubs page and see whats going on there.  I agree it its funny but hey to each their own.

But if you want to just use the front page to sample what's going on in lieu of going to one particular club's page, then it gets in the way.  It's not a big deal, which is why I didn't want to complain like LouASS suggested.  The main reason I posted this was to see if the guys who do it so much would explain why (the girls respond because its bad business not to).

Is there a way to stop poking from showing up in the feed?

If that old man they hired at DVNH who roams around the VIP area had an account the "Poke" button would be his alpha and omega. He seems to "poke" his nosy ass head in my dances more often than not. He'd probably find me on here and "poke" away.
