    True story..

Some guy owes me 40 thousand  dollars . Its been slow in coming and I have pretty much written it off. Last week he called me up. "Benn... I have good news .. I am going to be able to pay you off when my mother in law dies".

...and I thought thinking about strippers was bad

If that's the good news, what's the bad news? I don't want to know.

I am sorry to say this. IMHO, you might as well write it off. From my own experience, people who plan on circumstance that's beyond their control usually can not come through with their promises. I bet you when his mother in law dies he will have something else happen which will prevent him from paying you back.

I think Benn has already written it off. I only loan people money if I never want to see them again.

I would recommend not to loan money to friends even if you don't expect to see the money again. You may lose your friend.

I never lend money. If I have it and you are a friend, I'll give it to you or a portion of it to you with no strings attached.

Z, you must never have lent money to a dancer.

I am always here for Benn, and yes Benn, I get it. I actually think this guy is going to pay Benn back. Maybe not all $40K, but when his m-i-l dies, he will get a bucketload of money and give some of it to Benn, since he feels guilty about taking so long to pay him.

At least, that's how the world works in my brain, after watching "It's a Wonderful Life" for the 40th time.

BTW, ZBone is right about me being a lurker. As it says in my profile, I will not add any friends who I have not met personally, and even that isn't a guarantee. I just don't have the bandwidth for another social network. I have enough fake friends on that other one...

It sounds like he's hinting that you hit his mother-n-law.  LOL
