Mid day on a Saturday, I decided to drive 10 miles to Jet Strip. Paid my $6 cover and walked in. Empty club except for one PL staring off into space at a table back from the rail.
But I was interested in interacting with a dancer, so I sat at the rail.
Only, no dancer. The DJ was announcing a dancer's name, but as I looked around, I noticed a dancer talking to a security guy to the left of the stage. They seemed pretty interested in each other at the moment. I looked back at the bar and there was someone puttering behind the bar and a tall blonde waitress standing 10 feet from me staring into space.
And I sat as another song played, and it was like being in a painting. Nobody was moving anywhere. I looked at the waitress again, wondering why she didn't come over and offer me a drink. The DJ announced the dancer's name again. Empty stage. This was starting to seem like a Twilight Zone episode. Everyone was frozen where they were.
So I left.
Later the same day I went to 4Play and dropped (for me) an unconscionable amount of money. But that was the mood I was in.
In contrast, everyone at 4play, from the door guy to the chick who took my cover money to the waitress and dancers seemed to make an effort. This is probably why I keep coming back.
