Friday the 13th and I'm 1740 miles away...again....I've done it in 24 hours unless there's snow in the way. Eagle F1 Supercar's and snow don't mix. Ha. So very glad I stopped in to see Marilyn before leaving.

I figure by the time the lovely lady pays the house there isn't much left from the base fee and the tip helps her and me. The next time I come in she is still working because she is making a living and I get a smile, a hug. The fantasy continues for everyone.
I agree that asking for a tip (at anytime) is a big turn off. I also understand the economics of wanting to ask for a little extra.. But with me you will be tipped much, much better if you don't ask.  less

Hi Marilyn - did you get your Mark II?  I was just shopping a new L series lens and thought about the Mark II.  Got busy again and didn't make it out to see you - hope to sneak away this week.  Happy photo-graph-ing.  Love your new profile photo.  Mmmm Mmmm.

So if by chance your current lenses are EF-S they wouldn't work with the Mark II. While the camera you have will work with EF and EF-S lenses. There are some strong points to be made for going with a FF body but you may want to give the 7D a look. It is Canon's top APS-C sensor size camera. There are a few EF-S series lenses that benefit from L series grade UD glass. They aren't quite as sturdy feeling as a true L lens. The lens you borrowed from me is one.  less

My go to lens or walking around lens is a Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM - UD glass but not an L series. Since it is EF-S you wouldn't want to purchase it if you may go with a Mark II Full Frame body. A couple others to maybe look at are the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM. It is not IS but you would typically turn IS off anyway when shooting with a tripod to get the sharpest image possible. This is right in that sweet spot focal range for portrait work. And the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II USM. Important to get the new "II". All are zoom which afford flexibility if you aren't able to stage the shot with a fixed focal length lens. All are tack sharp lenses. If you are only going to purchase one lens I would choose between the 17-55 or the 24-70 of these three. I sent you an email to your old Yahoo account with a link to some good reviews and suggestions. What focal length range do you find that you are shooing in most?  less
