"The Sheena and Sam Show!": Billed
as the "Thelma & Louise" of the airwaves, Sheena Metal and ex-Penthouse
Pet Sam Phillips host a girls' call-in slumber party for radio, dealing with
relationships and life's travails from a candidly female perspective.
-
Where: KLSX-FM (97.1).
-
When: 7 to 9 p.m. Saturdays.
-
Typical topics: Worst dates, one-night
stands, obsessive boyfriends, bad break-ups and ways to keep a guy
interested.
-
Quote: "We're two guys trapped in
girls' bodies."
-
Off the air: Sheena hosts, writes
and produces cable TV's off-the- wall "Sheena Metal's Freakin' Rock Review"
and fronts the '80s rock parody band Sheena Metal's Beer Bong, for which
she sings and writes lyrics. Phillips is an actress-model.
-
Background: Sheena was a publicist
and writer on the local rock scene. She also edited such independent films
as "Witchcraft X" and penned articles for Rock City News and other magazines.
In 1994, Sheena began hosting and producing "Sheena Metal After Midnight"
on KIEV-AM (870), which ran for four years before she switched stations to
co-host KLSX's "Nastyman Show." Phillips got her start as a teen model, appearing
in numerous rock videos and frequently guesting on KLSX. She starred in
Showtime's "Hot Springs Hotel" and adorned the cover of Penthouse in June
1993.
