"Radio killed the video star! Radio killed the video star!" ...sings
a very happy Sam Phillips, upon receiving the news that her idea for a CBS
Radio talk show is definitely a go.
THE SHEENA & SAM SHOW:
She's so excited! I'm so excited! And you too, my faithful readers, will
be excited when those of you in Los Angeles tune your dials to 97.1 the FM
Talk Station in the middle of the night and hear the sultry smoky voice of
Sam Phillips live on CBS Radio! After two years of interning for various
radio stations in and around the Los Angeles area, Sam has been given the
go ahead to star in her own late night talk show. "It's called The Sheena
& Sam Show," she smiles glowingly. "Two chicks going at it in the middle
of the night!" Sam met Sheena Metal, a popular co-host in the L.A. radio
circuit, when the two of them did 97.1's The Nasty Man Show together in 1998.
"Sheena and I had great chemistry any time I did a guest spot on that show.
We were a natural pair from the start, and incited such banter and laughter
from each other that we knew we had to take our show on the air, just us
girls." The two ladies went live with their show for the first time last
weekend and were flooded with more phone calls than either of them had expected.
"We had close to 40 calls on the air in two hours, and in our meeting with
the program director he had told us that if we got between 10 and 12 calls
an hour we'd be doing well. I guess we delivered more than they expected,"
she smirks. "Leave it to two girls!"
"Our first topic on the show was penis size and if it really mattered. Of
course, any true fan of mine knows that I am an avid lover of small penises
-- because even though I'm a tall girl, I'm a small girl, if you know what
I mean. Since it was Mother's Day morning, our second hour commemorative
Mother's Day topic was all about hot moms. For instance, was there ever a
hot mom in your neighborhood who you fooled around with or heard the other
kids had fooled around with? Another variation: Have you ever dated a girl,
but really thought her mom was hotter? Another variation: Have you ever dated
someone old enough to be your mom? And my favorite variation: Has your mom
ever hit on your friends, which, Lord knows, my mom certainly did when I
was younger!" Tomorrow night's topics include anal sex and pet peeves. The
station is 97.1 the FM Talk Station, so if you're in the Los Angeles area
be sure to tune in and give them a call Sundays between 3:00 and 5:00 am
