September 1999
They're the Thelma and Louise of late-night
FM talk radio and they've invited all of Los Angeles to their slumber party.
Every Sunday morning from 3-5 a.m. on 97.1 the FM Talk Station, Sheena Metal
the "Queen of Observation" teams up with former Penthouse Pet Sam Phillips
to offer listeners two hours of sexy, funny, off-the-wall talk.
Sheena
Metal knows entertainment. Celebrating her eighth year in television, radio
and film, Sheena has hosted, written and produced her own cable show, Sheena
Metal's Freakin' Rock Review since 1991, edited independent films like Witchcraft
X and written for a multitude of entertainment magazines including Rock City
News. In 1994, Sheena began hosting Sheena Metal After Midnite on KIEV 870
AM which she also produced. The show ran from August 1994 until 1998 when
she switched bans to co-host the Nastyman Show on 97.1 the FM Talk Station.
Sheena also has a history in the Los Angeles music scene as a writer, promoter,
producer, publicist, performer, and consultant. Each year she sits on the
senior judging committee for the highly acclaimed Los Angeles Music Awards,
which awarded her Special Achievement Awards in 1994 and 1998 for service
to the entertainment community. Sheena knows what's hip. Her extensive knowledge
of film, television, music and L.A. madness has made her a celebrity throughout
many of Hollywood's artistic circles, from the mainstream to the very avant
garde. She even fronts her very own theatrical 1980's satire band, Sheena
Metal's Beer Bong for which she sings and writes the song's lyrics. She's
is followed by a large base of loyal listeners who can't get enough of her
wit, insight, and unusually accurate sense of humor for which her former
co-host deemed her the Queen of Observation.
Sam Phillips has been there, done it all, and certainly
doesn't mind talking about it. Beginning with her teenage years as a top
junior model, Sam appeared in countless magazine covers worldwide, and was
the Jordache girl for two years running. While based in London in 1987, Sam
landed her first leading role in Love Potion, directed by Monty Python alum
Graham Chapman. Soon after she moved to Los Angeles and has since starred
in Phantasm II, Weekend at Bernie's II, and Angel 4: Undercover among others.
Among a multitude of TV appearances including: UPN's The Secret Diary of
Desmond Pfeiffer, HBO's Mr. Show, CBS TV's Late Late Show with Craig Kilbourn
and FOX's Party Girl, Sam is probably most known for her starring role on
Showtime's Hot Springs Hotel. Sam also appeared in so many music videos (for
artists such as: Van Halen, Motley Crue, Amy Grant and Dave Koz), that she
was selected to participate in the Rock Video Girls video and the national
talk-show circuit campaign that followed.
In 1992, she release her own music project for Riot records which contained
the single CARE for the Children with proceeds going to the CARE Foundation.
In June of 1993, Sam was on the cover of Penthouse magazine, with 18 foreign
issues of Penthouse to follow. Sam also hosted the Best of L.A. Festival
last year and is a columnist for the successful webzine Danni's Hard Drive.
For two years she appeared weekly on XTRA Sports Radio's The Big Show and
was first heard on 97.1 last year as a guest on 97.1's Nastyman Show.
